Bar Code: Updated FDA Guidance
Goal is to improve device and pharmaceutical traceability
through UDI and SNI
After more than a year delay, the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) will soon issue guidelines for Unique Device
Identification (UDI) for medical devices and already has issued guidelines for Serial
Number Identification (SNI) for pharmaceuticals. This means more bar codes on
more items in healthcare, offering an opportunity to provide real improvements
in patient care and aftercare.
