today’s global economy.
In fact, according to a 2013 forecast by professional services firm, Tompkins International, the
industry is expected to grow three to four times faster than the GDP of the United States, which
is currently one of the most robust large markets in the industrialized world.
This expansive prediction reflects the significant gains the global economy has made since the
end of the 2008-2010 recession. The continued growth of the industry will surely be a boon to
any 3PL who can grab themselves a piece of the action.
Given the potential pot of gold awaiting the winners, it is reasonable to expect that the already
intense competition for 3PL customers will only become fiercer.
